What Is The Purpose Of The Fund?

The purpose of the St. Vincent de Paul Fund is to aid programs or projects which carry out the Vincentian Mission, that is, assistance to the poor and formation of Christian leaders, both clergy and lay.

Primarily the fund assists projects/programs of the Vincentian Fathers and Brothers of St. Vincent de P:aul sponsored institutions and of individual Vincentians.

What are the criteria for disbursement?

The program/project should be linked to institutions sponsored by the Province or to the work of
individual Vincentian priest or brother.

If there is no Vincentian priest or brother involved, the project must assist the materially poor, either individually or systemically.

The program/project must address itself clearly to a need.

Other sources of support for the program/project must be in evidence.

All programs/projects should have the potential for being self-supporting.

All programs/projects should give evidence to and are effective in, attacking the roots of poverty or which foster self help.

All programs/projects that receive support must submit an evaluation at the end of the grant period.

Money from the St. Vincent de Paul Fund may NOT be used for investment funds, fund raising events, operating deficits (paying off past debts), building endowments, building construction and salaries.

Disbursements are decided in November and are disbursed after January 1, for that calendar year.
